My name is Oladipupo Ayoola and I am a member of Product Design Team 6 in the Cohort 5.0 Bootcamp facilitated by SideHustle.

SideHustle is a talent management company that provides global businesses and startups with the right remote talents & teams.

Prior to the bootcamp, each member of the team passed through an intensive 6-week internship is which we learnt many soft and hard skills required for success in our field of interest, product design.

We joined the bootcamp to gain experience. Many individuals had the impression that the portfolio bootcamp would be a walk in the park, but I am sure they have since learnt otherwise.

In the first week of the program, the facilitators assigned us to the Product Design Team-6. The members of my team include:

The week started off with us getting to know each other. We would be teammates for the next 6 weeks after all.

We received our first design task on Monday, the 6th of June. We were to choose a Nigerian Bank app as a case study and carry out a user research on the experience.

The feedback from this user research would inform our redesign of said mobile app, adding and removing one feature each.

We redesigned the Kuda bank app. Kuda bank is Nigeria’s first mobile-only bank licensed by the Central Bank.

Their mobile app has a superb user experience, so we were unsure at first what features we would add and remove.

We came up with a User Research plan and a questionnaire in order to better understand the experiences and pain points of users of the Kuda bank app.

The responses recorded from the questionnaire were useful in creating User Personas that best conceptualized the average user of the Kuda bank app.

We then redesigned the Kuda bank app while working together on a Figma design file. Attached below are the screens from the redesign.

Overall, it was an interesting first-week experience. It definitely wasn’t all rosy as we had issues with certain individuals not being available to collaborate on the project. We got the job done, regardless.

My team is geared and excited to face whatever designs tasks the facilitators throw at us in the weeks to come.
